Rock Formations

Rock Formations

The rock formations in Castle Rock are created from the wind blowing through the canyon at high speed and slowly eating away at the sandstone. They are quite beautiful both from afar and up close. Many of the rock formations are used by rock climbers who get an excellent view of the surrounding valley. Climbers are treated to sheer cliff faces as well as various rock outcroppings of varying difficulties. The views from the tops of the rock formations often include hawks, falcons and other birds flying through the canyon. There are caves in many of the rock formations which can be a relaxing place to rest during hikes.
