Here we see the rock formations that bring many hikers to Castle Rock regional park in Walnut Creek. These rock formations feel like the bones of the earth poking through its skin. Many hikers and rock climbers alike enjoy these rock formations when they are open to the public. As of this writing in March of 2015 the rocks are closed to protect the breeding grounds of the peregrine falcons who can be seen flying around the park throughout most of the year. This is the first year that the rocks and the trails around them have been closed to the public. It remains to be seen what if any effect the closure will have on the falcon population.
