This Red-tailed Hawk was spotted hunting over the valley in Castle Rock regional park. He flew back and forth looking for a tasty lunch while being photographed from a high ridge far above the valley. The graceful gliding of both hawks and falcons can be seen in the park throughout most of the year. Along with the amazing rock formations the wildlife is a major draw of visitors to the park. As of this writing in March of 2015 many of the best areas for watching both hawks and falcons in Castle Rock park have been closed to the public. We hope the closed trails will be reopened for the public to enjoy in the near future.
